>I realized I was falling into a funk of shooting maternity photos at the same location over and over. Its nice to have a “go-to” location I guess but shooting the same shots over again with different clients just wasn’t cutting it for me. I think in anything you do, especially art, if you are constantly challenging yourself then you are just fooling yourself. So when I got the chance to shoot maternity photos for friends Laura and Jeff at a location of my choice I wanted to do the exact opposite of “cliffs and waves.” When I use to play in a band a long long time ago I remembered the Chrystal Pier hotel being located next to a venue we would play in PB. (remembered as in blackout subconscious)

>Some Maternity Photos from this past weekend.
>So I hadn’t done a maternity shoot in over a month or so. This seems like an eternity to me. Every shoot I do I learn something new that I want to apply to the next shoot, so having a month to think about how to pull stuff off or remember something that I wanted to try just seems like forever. So it was nice to have three maternity shoots all in one weekend. Below are some shots from the studio and Ocean Beach.

The Tyquiengco family is another group that I love getting to work with. This was I think our third or fourth session together and its just a lot of fun every time. I brought my son with me on this session and I think him and Ty (the oldest boy) traded email addresses or something to keep in touch. I am out of the loop with new communication technology I am sure those 4 to 7 year old’s are using something I haven’t even seen yet. The joys of getting old.

Jackie is one my favorite clients to work with. Not only are her kids adorable, but she always has a ton of ideas for the shoots. There is a fine line when collaborating with a client. Other photographers have fell victim to this I know as well as myself. Before you know it you realize you are just taking photos that the client would take except you have $3k worth of equipment in your hands. (actually had a client ask is he could just take some photos with my camera halfway through a shoot.
Jackie and her family are exactly the opposite of that. She just has a ton of great ideas and then lets me go to work and trust she will like the results. Which so far has worked out. So far…
